Thus, we demonstrate for the first time that mice deficient in the CLR macrophage galactose-type lectin 1 (MGL1) have increased susceptibility to experimental cysticercosis caused by the cestode T. crassiceps, with a reduction in the levels of the proinflammatory cytokines IL-12, IFN-γ and TNF-α, as well as in NO production. Here, IFNG is linked to cysticercosis.
