With respect to bladder cancer, miRNA profiling of bladder transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) samples has revealed that miR-101 is downregulated in TCC, and that miR-101 inhibits cell proliferation and colony formation in TCC cell lines through directly repressing the histone methyltransferase EZH2 [15]. This evidence concerns the gene PRDM9 and tarsal-carpal coalition syndrome.
