IL6R and ovarian carcinoma: Stone RL, et al. showed that anti–IL-6 antibody treatment significantly reduced platelet counts in tumor-bearing mice and enhanced the therapeutic efficacy of paclitaxel in mouse models of epithelial ovarian cancer.[25] More recently, a novel high-affinity fully human anti-IL-6 mAb, 1339 was developed[29] and has shown promise in preclinical models of several cancers.[7] As for targeting IL-6R, tocilizumab has been reported to be effective in treating oral squamous cell carcinoma [9] and renal cell carcinoma [30] in preclinical animal models.
