Several observations have documented that IL-6 levels in the serum and peritoneal fluid from patients with ovarian cancer are increased and that high levels of IL-6 are significantly associated with poor prognosis and survival of the patients.[3, 4, 22, 25] However, there remains a debate as to the source of the IL-6 in ovarian cancer patients.
