The data generated from these experiments collectively indicate that Ara-LAM works through TLR2 to restore IFN-γ responsiveness in L. donovani-infected macrophages and re-establishes host-protective IFN-γ secreting CD4+ T cells in a mouse model of visceral leishmaniasis, a fatal disease in absence of an effective therapy. This evidence concerns the gene TLR2 and visceral leishmaniasis.
