Fbxl7 within the SCF complex targets Aurora A for polyubiquitylation and proteasomal degradation leading to mitotic cell cycle arrest.19 Additionally, Fbxl7 was reported to be associated with an ovarian cancer gene and its expression is linked to steroid responsiveness in human subjects with asthma.20, 21 Although these data suggest a role for Fbxl7 in controlling cell proliferative activity and viability, further studies investigating both its biological role and molecular expression are needed. The gene discussed is FBXL7; the disease is ovarian cancer.
