There was no difference between subjects, who fulfilled all defined criteria for metabolic syndrome, and controls in terms of DNA strand breaks (0.18 ± 0.01 versus 0.18 ± 0.02 lesions/106 bp, P=0.34), FPG-sensitive sites (0.52 ± 0.02 versus 0.50 ± 0.02 lesions/106 bp, P=0.97), and hOGG1-sensitive sites (0.12 ± 0.01 versus 0.13 ± 0.01 lesions/106 bp, P=0.80), respectively. Here, OGG1 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
