Secondly, prior to ibogaine application one should carefully consider additional risk factors for drug-induced TdP arrhythmias in a patient including female gender, a prolonged baseline QT interval, bradycardia, abnormal electrolyte levels, preexisting cardiovascular disease, ion channel (e.g., hERG) mutations, drug-drug interactions, and genetic variants influencing drug metabolism [22,69,70,71]. The gene discussed is KCNH2; the disease is cardiac arrhythmia.
