F2 and cirrhosis of liver: In liver cirrhosis the lack of prothrombin is compensated for by a lack of antithrombin, that itself is partly compensated by a rise in α2-macroglobulin (Kremers RMW, Kleinegris M-C, Cate HT, Wagenvoord RJ, Hemker HC: Decreased prothrombin conversion and thrombin inactivation result in rebalanced thrombin generation in liver cirrhosis.
