Though, in a study that examined methylation status of six tumor suppressor genes that included BRCA1, BRCA2, p14, p16, hMLH, and MGMT in breast (n = 23), other tumor (n = 10), and control tissues (n = 4) suggested that BRCA1, BRCA2, and p14 appeared to be under strong epigenetic silencing. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is neoplasm.
