The panel was designed in order to contain well-known predictive markers in the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) pathway, such as mutations of the EGFR (for NSCLC) and KRAS (for NSCLC and CRC) genes, but also included genes that might serve as targets in the near future or have a prognostic relevance, like BRAF [9,10], AKT1 [11], DDR2 [12,13] and ERBB2 [14-16] (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene KRAS and colorectal carcinoma.
