Kainic acid induces recurrent seizures, and the selected time point (i.e., 6 h) after the induction of status epilepticus enabled us to observe not only late-response genes but also early-response genes (see Fig. 3; e.g., Fos, JunB, FosB, Egr2, Egr4). This evidence concerns the gene FOSB and status epilepticus.
