Because excessive expression of CtBP was observed in many different types of cancers, and associated with the more aggressive subtype of cancer patients with worse outcome, our identification of CtBP function in regulating cancer cell metabolic pathways and resultant intracellular pH homeostasis accounts for above observation and reveals insights into CtBP effect on the molecular mechanisms of cancer cell growth and points to the therapeutic potential of CtBP in cancer treatment. This evidence concerns the gene CTBP1 and cancer.
