Most recently, Wang et al. [48] evaluated miRNAs panels isolated from serum as opposed to plasma, and identified a panel of 6 miRNAs that could accurately predict CRC incidence (miR-21, let-7g, miR-31, miR-92a, miR-181b, and miR-203) with 93% sensitivity and 91% specificity, significantly higher than conventional blood-based biomarkers such as CEA and CA19-9. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal carcinoma.
