NFKB1 and asthma: We have demonstrated that inhibition of NF-κB activity in the airway epithelium of mice is sufficient to diminish many of the inflammatory features of both an ovalbumin (14) and a house dust mite (15) model of asthma, while activation of airway epithelial NF-κB exacerbates allergic airway disease (16) and enables allergic sensitization to an innocuous inhaled antigen (17).
