After adjusting for all those parameters including body mass index (BMI), presence of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia, and blood concentration of uric acid, C-reactive protein and homocysteine, the menopausal status was still found to be significantly associated with CIMT (P < 0.001).In order to exclude the interference of age to our results, 223 post-menopausal women were successfully matched to another 223 pre-menopausal women based on their age. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
