We analysed the effects of the SNPs from eleven uric acid-associated loci on the risk of T2D, glucose metabolism and insulin secretion and showed that GCKR rs780094 and SF1 rs606458 variants have an impact on the risk of T2D and LRRC16A, SLC22A11 and SLC22A12 play roles in regulating glucose metabolism and insulin secretion in Chinese males as well as ABCG2, SLC17A1 and LRP2 in Chinese females. Here, SF1 is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
