Considering the important role of the IL-17A cytokine in the development of atherosclerosis and the lack of studies of the role of polymorphisms of this gene in coronary artery disease, the aim of the present study was to analyze if IL-17A gene polymorphisms are associated with premature coronary artery disease (CAD) in a case-control association study (GEA or Genetics of Atherosclerotic Disease). Here, IL17A is linked to atherosclerosis.
