To this aim, we treated SKO-007(J3) cells with the NO-releasing aspirin derivative NCX4040 (a bio-activated nitric oxide-donating non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) [44] or with JS-K, an anti-cancer agent designed to release nitric oxide in a sustained manner within a cell when metabolized by glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), enzymes frequently overexpressed in different tumors, including MM [45,46].
