Individuals with homozygous genotypes of GSTP1 Ile/Ile were reported to have the lowest risk of prostate cancer (Kote-Jarai et al., 2001), and this genotype is found to be protective in rheumatoid arthritis (Mattey et al., 1999) and basal cell carcinoma (Ramachamdran et al., 2000). This evidence concerns the gene GSTP1 and prostate cancer.
