The effect of obesity and type 2 diabetes on intestinal lipid metabolism has been investigated in a variety of models including, high fat feeding, high fat/fructose/cholesterol feeding, and genetic models, such as leptin‐deficiency (Naples et al. 2012; Uchida et al. 2012), however, little is known about the effects of hyperphagia‐induced obesity and type 2 diabetes on intestinal lipid metabolism. This evidence concerns the gene LEP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
