The only independent risk factors identified were the association of postpartum hemorrhage with the HELLP syndrome (OR [CI 95%] = 4.1 [1.75 to 9.66]; p = 0.0012) and the administration of 20% hyperoncotic serum albumin (OR [CI 95%] = 3.34 [1.47 to 7.60]; p = 0.0039).
