In a previous comparative microarray analysis we defined a set of 361 genes that showed at least a 2-fold statistically significant alteration in HGPS compared to normal controls; extracellular matrix proteins and transcription factors were the most affected categories, with growth-arrest specific transcription factor MEOX2/GAX being the most significantly affected gene [5]. The gene discussed is MEOX2; the disease is Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
