The study results showed that roxithromycin treatment reduced airway inflammation, SGRQ scores, acute exacerbation, and remodeling of dilated bronchial wall in patients with NCFB, as shown by a decreased number of neutrophils and concentration of IL-8, NE, MMP-9, MMP9/TIMP-1, and HA in induced sputum. This evidence concerns the gene TIMP1 and inflammatory response.
