We found that the Cxcr3.2 receptor, one of the three zebrafish homologs of human CXCR3, interacts with infection-inducible zebrafish homologs of the CXCL11 ligand family and is required for the mobilization of macrophages to different pathogens, such as locally delivered M. marinum or S. typhimurium. The gene discussed is CXCL11; the disease is infection.
