There was a significant increase in CD28null CD8+ T in patients with COPD compared with healthy controls but no change in CD28null CD8- T cells (CD28nullCD8 + T: 55 ± 7.8 (35 ± 6.3); CD28nullCD8-T: 7.5 ± 2.9 (6.3 ± 2.6) for COPD patients (controls) (mean ± sd)) consistent with our previous findings for CD28null T cells [5].
