Median concentrations of Ang-2 and von Willebrand Factor (vWF), the two major products of endothelial WPB release, were both increased in patients with severe and non-severe vivax malaria compared to controls (P<0.01 for all comparisons), with Ang-2 nearly twice as high in severe compared to non-severe disease (P<0.0001) (Table 3). The gene discussed is VWF; the disease is Plasmodium vivax malaria.
