The loss of this locus has been demonstrated to occur frequently in multiple tumor types, indicating that it contains critical TSGs, such as the well-studied WWOX. In fact, detailed mechanisms underlying the epigenetic alterations of most ADAMTS18 family proteins are still unknown, and only the epigenetic alterations of the ADAMTS18 gene have been reported in multiple human tumors, including colorectal, brain, ovarian, breast, lung, head and neck, hepatocellular, oesophageal, gastric and nasopharyngeal carcinomas [14]. The gene discussed is WWOX; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
