The induction of apoptosis in human cervical cancer by baicalin was reported, the research showed that baicalin hydrate could induce apoptosis via inducing mitochondrial dysfunction disrupted as shown as the mitochondrial membrane potential (14), while our results demonstrated that baicalin induced HeLa cells apoptosis through the activation of caspase-3 via both mitochondrial pathway and death receptor pathway. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and cervical cancer.
