HAMP and Huntington disease: Since the liver is the site of hepcidin-25 and CRP production as well as the storage of ferritin [9,10], our data suggest that hepatic sensing of low levels of serum hepcidin-25 and ferritin may trigger the mechanism by which iron availability for erythropoiesis is increased [10], leading to a better response to OIT in certain HD patients with minor inflammation.
