PTPRC and kidney disorder: In essence, the apparent higher numbers of monocytic (CD14+/CD45+), HAMP-expressing, cells in B2 would enhance the possibility of vitamin D-mediated suppression of HAMP. The fact that HAMP expression was suppressed by vitamin D supplementation without any adjustment for immune cell population highlights the importance of this antibacterial pathway for vitamin D, particularly in the context of kidney disease.
