To understand if the above mechanism is relevant in lung carcinoma, we obtained a number of lung carcinoma cell lines, including the H1299, H358, H522, and H596 cell lines, which contain nonfunctional p53 (as depletion of HUWE1 in some settings has been shown to result in stabilization of wild-type p53 and consequent cell death [Kon et al., 2012]). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is lung carcinoma.
