Targeting NRF2 either by RNA interference or by small molecules inhibited tumor growth and increased efficacy of chemotherapy (Singh et al. 2008) or EGF-driven proliferation (Yamadori et al. 2012) in non-small cell lung cancer models and reduced the proliferation and drug-resistance in human lung cancer cells (Homma et al. 2009) or human pancreatic cancer cells (Arlt et al. 2013; Duong et al. 2014b; Hong et al. 2010; Lister et al. 2011). Here, NFE2L2 is linked to familial pancreatic carcinoma.
