Eye defects were found in 17.1% of the Daam1+/+ embryos that had been exposed to maternal diabetes (Fig. 3L; n=41), whereas the incidence of eye defects rose to 27.3% in Daam1+/gt embryos that had been exposed to maternal diabetes (Fig. 3N; n=11, Table 3), although this increase in eye defects was not statistically significant. This evidence concerns the gene DAAM1 and diabetes mellitus.
