In the ALSPAC cohort where maternal genotypes were available [44], a maternal “risk-allele score” (combining 4 risk alleles for obesity, including FTO rs9930609) was inversely associated with gestational weight gain in the first 18 weeks of pregnancy (214.46 g/wk per allele) compared with three other risk alleles for obesity.
