In contrast to common belief, we found that after s.c. tumor implantation, significant tumor metastasis developed in multiple organs (lung, liver, and bone marrow) after the local tumor reached 1000–1500 mm3 and the metastasized cancer cells were easily detected by immunoreaction with biotinylated anti-HuD mAb and Cy3 fluorescent detection (Figure 3B). This evidence concerns the gene ELAVL4 and cancer.
