Increased S100A7 expression has been reported in several epithelial malignancies, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and oral dysplasia (40), which shares many features, including HPV infection, with cervical SCC, as well as skin, bladder, breast cancer, and adenocarcinomas of the stomach (41). Here, S100A7 is linked to head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
