In this study, the potential clinical relevance of MLA-induced cognitive deficit was supported by the fact that three procognitive drugs approved for the clinical treatment of cognitive disorders, namely donepezil (acetylcholinesterase [AChE] inhibitor), galantamine (AChE inhibitor and allosteric modulator of nAChR) and memantine (antagonist of N-Methyl-D-aspartate [NMDA] receptors), reversed the symptoms of cognitive impairment in mice. The gene discussed is ACHE; the disease is Cognitive impairment.
