In addition, Leung et al. [19] observed that polymorphisms in the Mannose-binding lectin (MBL) gene, a member of the innate immune system, may protect against cockroach sensitization in Chinese children, and Pistiner et al. [20] demonstrated that polymorphisms in IL-12A were associated with cockroach sensitization among children with asthma in both Costa Rica and Caucasian children with asthma in the Childhood Asthma Management Program (CAMP).
