SNRK is a substrate for Liver kinase B1 (LKB1) via phosphorylation at threonine residue 173 (Jaleel et al., 2005), and has recently been implicated as an inhibitor of colon cancer cell proliferation (Rines et al., 2012) as well as adipocyte inflammation (Li et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene STK11 and malignant colon neoplasm.
