AURKA and colonic neoplasm: Besides its well-defined role in mitosis, overexpression of AURA and upregulation of its enzymatic activity have been linked to tumorigenesis, specifically in ovarian, prostate, esophageal, breast and colon cancers, and inhibitory compounds have been designed to specifically inhibit AURA activity (Gritsko et al., 2003; Li et al., 2004; Tong et al., 2004; McKlveen Buschhorn et al., 2005; Baba et al., 2009).
