Consistent with this hypothesis, cisplatin-induced nitration and decrease in the expression of Lmo4 was accompanied by up-regulation of Esr1 and down-regulation of Stat3, in the cochlea, while these modulations were reversed by treatment with antioxidant Trolox, which attenuated cisplatin-induced nitration of cochlear proteins and prevented associated hearing loss [1]. The gene discussed is ESR1; the disease is hearing loss disorder.
