SW982 cells are derived from a human synovial sarcoma and behave similarly to human synovial fibroblasts including their ability to produce inflammatory and catabolic factors, including IL-1, IL-6, Cox2/PTGS2, iNOS/NOS2, TGFβ, MMP-1, −2, −3 and −13 and ADAMTS-4, both basally and at markedly increased levels following treatment with IL-1β [34, 35]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP1 and synovial sarcoma.
