As in the chicken and human orthologs, FN3KRP and its duplicate paralog present in all passerines (FN3KRPL2) contain six exons, and the predicted large fructosamine-3-kinase domain that covers most of the open reading frame is indicative of a role in deglycation and functional activation of proteins protective against hyperglycemia. This evidence concerns the gene FN3K and Hyperglycemia.
