Regarding the second finding (association of composite of MI and stroke only with P, but not with Ca or intact PTH despite the significant association of MI with P, Ca and intact PTH, and hemorrhagic stroke with intact PTH), this is reasonable given that ischemic stroke was the event with the highest incidence in our sample; hence, the associations of the composite of MI and stroke were driven by the associations of ischemic stroke.
