The findings of this study have suggestedthat indices of adiposity (BMI and WHR) areresponsible for elevated leptin, insulin resistance, and testosterone levels in PCOS patients. The role of leptin and ghrelin in the pathogenesisof PCOS may occur by ways other thanthe simple concentration of these hormonesin circulation, particularly as leptin inserts itsendocrine effects mostly through modulatinginsulin levels. This evidence concerns the gene GHRL and Insulin resistance.
