It is important to note that neurofibrillary lesions are also abundant in other neurodegenerative diseases, such as Pick’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal degeneration, argyrophilic grain disease, and frontotemporal dementia with parkinsonism linked to chromosome 17 (FTDP-17), the latter caused by mutations in the MAPT gene. Here, MAPT is linked to frontotemporal dementia.
