ABCB1 and colorectal carcinoma: The silent ABCB1 C3435T polymorphisms have been reported to change transport specificity and protein stability (Fung and Gottesman 2009; Fung et al. 2014), whereas the intron 3 G-rs3789243-A-variant allele has been associated with low ABCB1 mRNA level in the intestine, thus suggesting that low level of ABCB1 is a risk factor for CRC when eating meat (Andersen et al. 2013c).
