Interestingly, in metastatic mammary adenocarcinoma cells RhoC activity is spatially confined to areas surrounding the actin core of invadopodia, which in turn increase pCofilinS3 and therefore inactivation, focusing cofilin activity to the actin core.10 Thus, podoplanin might be controlling RhoC activity specifically at adhesion rings, allowing the inactivation of cofilin in this specific compartment of invadopodia. This evidence concerns the gene PDPN and breast adenocarcinoma.
