GRIK1 polymorphisms have been investigation for their associations with different diseases including Juvenile absence epilepsy[28, 29], schizophrenia[30, 31], alcohol dependence[32], topiramate’s effects on heavy drinking[33, 34], topiramate-induced side effects[35], and hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma[36].
