TNF and metabolic syndrome: In human subjects, circulating chemerin was shown to be strongly associated with multiple components of metabolic syndrome, including body mass index (BMI), triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and hypertension [4], [7], [9], it was associated with systemic markers of inflammation, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) [10]–[12].
